Live and act

The father was the respected Breslau banker Louis Eichborn from the noble Eichborn family . Hermann Eichborn was a student at the Maria Magdalenen High School in his hometown from 1858 . Together with the later neurologist and psychiatrist Carl Wernicke , he passed the Abitur there in 1866 . He then studied law and received his doctorate in 1870 at the University of Jena with the thesis Quae in speculi Saxonici juribus inter se pares sint personae, demonstratur . When he was a court assessor, he left the civil service and devoted himself entirely to music. The Breslau cathedral music director Moritz Brosig and the organist Emil Bohn became his teachers. In 1883 and 1884 three of his operas were premiered. Eichborn was an excellent horn player and trumpeter , experimented with wind instruments , composed and worked as a conductor and music writer. He was the first modern researcher to study the history of brass instruments, especially the trumpet. The musicologist Edward H. Tarr judges: Today's trumpet researchers would do well to take Eichborn back to hand, because it is astonishing how comprehensively educated he was and what he already knew. Eichborn went from Breslau to Munich for a short time in 1890 and to Gries near Bozen in South Tyrol in 1891 , where he lived and worked on his winery until his death. He maintained a private orchestra there with around 25 professional musicians.
