Hermann Peichl
Hermann Richard Peichl OSB (born August 9, 1887 in Niederjohnsdorf, Landskron district , Bohemia , † April 15, 1966 in Vienna ) was an Austrian Benedictine and the 70th abbot of the Schottenstift in Vienna.
Hermann Peichl from the Diocese of Königgrätz was clad in the Schottenstift in 1907 , and his ordination took place in 1912. From 1916 to 1918 he was a cooperator on the parish of Zellerndorf ; then he began his work as a religion professor at the Schottengymnasium and preacher of the Schottenpfarre. In 1921 he was promoted to Dr. theol. PhD in church history at the University of Vienna . His doctoral supervisor was the Scottish father Cölestin Wolfsgruber . From 1924 to 1930 Peichl was Spiritual of the Juniores. In 1930 he became the abbot benediziert . In 1945 he served as President of the Vienna Catholic Academy.
Since 1930 he was an honorary member of the Catholic student union KaV Marco-Danubia Vienna .
