Life
The offspring of the Hamburg Hanseatic Sieveking family and grandson of the mayor Friedrich Sieveking attended the Johanneum's school of scholars . After graduating from high school in the fall of 1893, he studied natural sciences at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich and the Kaiser Wilhelms University of Strasbourg . In the meantime he served as a one-year volunteer in the Prussian Army , probably in the 4th Lorraine Infantry Regiment No. 136 . In 1895 he became a corps bow bearer of the Palatia Strasbourg . In 1899 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD .
On December 1 of the same year he became second, on April 1, 1902 first scientific assistant at the Physics Institute of the TH Karlsruhe . On April 1, 1908 , he qualified as a professor in theoretical physics . As a private lecturer , he relieved his boss Otto Lehmann of academic teaching duties. He made special contributions to research into the radioactivity of thermal springs . With Carl Engler he developed the fontactoscope . In the winter semester 1913 he was the professor of the teaching of aeronautics and aviation technology . He was chairman of the Karlsruhe Aviation Association . He operated the balloon flight and founded the Academic Flight School in Karlsruhe. At the age of 39 he succumbed to a weak heart .
