Hermann Scriba

Hermann Scriba (born January 15, 1888 in Remptendorf , † October 12, 1976 in Eisenach ) was a German Protestant theologian , rector of the Evangelical Lutheran Deaconess House in Eisenach and chairman of the Central German Conference of German Deaconess Houses.

Live and act

He was the eldest of five children of Pastor Otto Scriba (1859–1932) and his wife Sophie, b. Bream. After secondary school in Michelstadt , Scriba attended grammar school in Bensheim from 1904 . He then studied theology in Erlangen and Leipzig from 1906 and passed the first theological exam in 1910. A year later he was ordained and he became regional vicar in Zeulenroda . Scriba passed the second theological exam in Greiz in 1912 and took on a pastor's position in Remptendorf. From 1914 to 1917 he worked as a deputy sergeant in Gera . He then worked from 1917 to 1922 as the second pastor in the Elisabethenstift in Darmstadt . In 1922 Scriba was called to the Evangelical Lutheran Deaconess Mother House for Thuringia in Eisenach as pastor and rector. He worked there until 1957. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Ev.-Luth. At the Deaconess Mother House for Thuringia in Eisenach , Scriba wrote the brochure Tree at the Source .

In 1951 the theologian took over the office of chairman of the Central German Conference of German Deaconess Houses. In 1952 he was appointed to the church council.
