Hermann Spillecke

Hermann Spillecke (born May 15, 1924 in Homberg , † May 5, 1977 in Bonn ) was a German educator and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Spillecke continued his education at a teacher training institute and at the Wuppertal Pedagogical Academy . In 1943/44 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . In May 1944 he started teaching in the city of Duisburg . In 1956 he became the main teacher and since 1958 the principal of a school in Duisburg- Bissingheim .

Political party

Spillecke joined the SPD in 1945. From 1961 to 1977 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Duisburg and member of the board of the SPD district of Niederrhein .

MP

Spillecke was a council member of the city of Duisburg from 1956 to 1969 and since 1961 a member of the Rhineland Regional Assembly . He was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament in 1962, to which he was a member until his resignation on October 7, 1965. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 until his death. In parliament he represented the constituency of Duisburg II . In 1977 he was also a member of the European Parliament .

Public offices

Spillecke was mayor of the city of Duisburg from July 1957 to 1969.
