Hermann Wilhelm Schlueter

Hermann Wilhelm Adolph Karl Schlueter (born January 10, 1846 in Hanover ; † April 13, 1900 there ) was a German printer and manager of the later Schlueter publishing company .

Hermann Wilhelm Schlueter was the grandson of the printer Georg Christoph Schlueter and son of Philipp Schlueter . His older brother was Carl Schlueter (May 15, 1813 - February 13, 1897), a younger brother was Wolfgang Schlueter (July 28, 1848 - January 14, 1919). Hermann Wilhelm Schlueter remained without descendants.

Career

Hermann Wilhelm Schlüter completed an apprenticeship as a book printer in Hanover in the landscape printing company run by his father . After gaining experience as an employee in various foreign companies, he took over the family-run printing company as managing director in 1868 after his father and brother Carl had been in dispute over the continuation of the Hannoversche Tageblatt .

Under Hermann Wilhelm Schlueter, the printing company was officially renamed Schlütersche Buchdruckerei in 1878 . A few years after the managing director's death in 1903, it was bought by the businessman Heinrich Ludwig Hartmann .

Hermann Wilhelm Schlueter was buried in the family grave at the Engesohde city cemetery , in Department 25 , graves 25–30 . The tomb there, designed by the sculptor Karl Gundelach , was restored in 1982.

Hermann Wilhelm Schlueter left his collection of Fürstenberg porcelain and numerous works by Johann Heinrich Ramberg to the (today's) Museum August Kestner .
