Karl Gundelach

Karl Gundelach (born June 16, 1856 in Linden (Hanover) , † January 19, 1920 Hanover ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Karl Gundelach completed his studies in the years 1871 to 1886 at the Polytechnic School (Technical University) Hanover . He interrupted it from 1873 to 1877 to train as a sculptor with the Hanoverian sculptor Wilhelm Engelhard and from 1882 to 1885 to study at the Berlin Academy. Gundelach had been a member of the Hanoverian Bauhütte since 1884, of the Hanoverian Artists' Association since 1887, and from 1900 to 1920 a teacher at the Hanover School of Applied Arts . From 1903 he was a lecturer and from 1910 professor at the Technical University of Hanover. Many of his works were created in collaboration with the “Hanover School”, especially monuments were created together with the Hanoverian architect Otto Lüer . Sculptures, sculptures, reliefs and fountains in the cityscape of Hanover still bear witness to Karl Gundelach's artistic work today.
