Life
Karl Gundelach completed his studies in the years 1871 to 1886 at the Polytechnic School (Technical University) Hanover . He interrupted it from 1873 to 1877 to train as a sculptor with the Hanoverian sculptor Wilhelm Engelhard and from 1882 to 1885 to study at the Berlin Academy. Gundelach had been a member of the Hanoverian Bauhütte since 1884, of the Hanoverian Artists' Association since 1887, and from 1900 to 1920 a teacher at the Hanover School of Applied Arts . From 1903 he was a lecturer and from 1910 professor at the Technical University of Hanover. Sculptures, sculptures, reliefs and fountains in the cityscape of Hanover still bear witness to Karl Gundelach's artistic work today.
