Hermann von Friedingen , also Hermann II. Von Friedingen or Hermann von Konstanz († November 20, 1189 ) was Bishop of Konstanz from 1183 until his death in 1189 .

family

Hermann von Friedingen came from the noble, noble Hegau family of the Lords of Friedingen . The Friedingers were the masters of Radolfzell for sixty years and, with their ancestors who did not yet call themselves Friedingen , the masters of Singen am Hohentwiel for over five hundred years . The sex lost importance in the 15th century.

Life

In 1152 Hermann II von Friedingen was a member of the cathedral chapter and canon in Constance . In 1172 he was archdeacon , in 1175 he was elected provost of the cathedral in Constance. 1183 he took the Emperor as an envoy Frederick Barbarossa at Constance Reichstag part. Hermann von Friedingen was bishop from 1183 and was often in the wake of the emperor, whose marriage to Adela von Vohburg he had to divorce in March 1153 in Constance.

He was buried under the crossing in Constance Cathedral.
