Hetti

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hetti (* probably before 800; † May 27, 847 ) was Archbishop of Trier from 814 until his death .

Life

The date of the ascent of the archbishop's chair after the death of Archbishop Amalharius Fortunatus can only be documented between 814 and 816. Hetti comes from a distinguished Austrasian family. His sister Warentrud was an abbess in Pfalzel . His nephew Grimald von Weißenburg was Abbot of St. Gallen .

Before he became bishop, he was abbot of Mettlach . In 816 he took part in the synod in Aachen . As a legacy of Emperor Ludwig the Pious and Archbishop of Trier, in 817 he called on Bishop Frothat of Toul to hold troops ready for a possible military campaign to Italy. In 819 he asked the same bishop to watch over the imperial disposition for the pens. In 832 he assisted in the consecration of Saint Ansgar as Archbishop of Hamburg by Drogo von Metz . The laying of the foundation stone of the Koblenz Kastorkirche with the bones of St. Castor von Karden was one of the most important events of his tenure.

He was buried in the Johanniskapelle of the Euchariuskirche near Trier. Among other things, he left a tract for future clerics.
