The district of Heusdorf is located in the eastern part of the city and is affected by Landesstraße 1060. In addition, the Erfurt - Berlin railway line runs through the boundaries of the district . Large parts of the district are already built on or are planned for further construction work. The remaining agricultural area is on good to very good soil and is too valuable for further development. The flat hilly terrain is at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level.

history

Heusdorf was first mentioned in a document from 1110 to 1120. The Apolda castle , one reported was in office Heusdorf . In 1663 Apolda fell to Saxe-Weimar and the castle was transferred to the University of Jena . Mineral springs were discovered in 1737 , which the Duke had and built bathhouses. In 1750, after the Duke's death, the buildings were demolished.

The Benedictine monastery of Heusdorf Monastery was under the Thuringian landgrave. In the course of the Reformation in 1536, this monastery site was converted into a sovereign estate. Heusdorf came with the other places in possession of the monastery to the Heusdorf office , which existed until 1818. Then Heusdorf came to the Office Roßla and in 1850 to the administrative district Weimar II ( administrative district Apolda ) of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach .

After the Second World War, the property was divided up as part of the land reform and declared a national property. The farmers and the estate were then subject to the agricultural policy of the GDR . Industry and commerce settled in the Heusdorf district, so that there is not much left to see from the past. Even parts of the railway area are unused.
