Hichem Khalil Cherabi ( Arabic هشام خليل شرابي Hischam Chalil Sharabi , DMG Hišām Ḫalīl Šarābī ; * March 30, 1993 ) is an Algerian athlete who specializes in the pole vault .
Athletic career
Hichem Khalil Cherabi gained his first international experience in 2014 at the African Championships in Marrakech , where he finished fourth with a jump of 4.90 m. The following year he won the bronze medal at the Arab Championships in Madinat Isa with 4.80 m behind Moroccan Mouhcine Cheaouri and Mohamed Amin Romdhana from Tunisia . He then took part in the Africa Games in Brazzaville for the first time and won there with a height of 5.25 m. In 2016 he won the gold medal at the African Championships in Durban , where he jumped 5.30 m. In 2017 he won the bronze medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku with 5.25 m behind the Saudi Hussain al-Hizam and the Tunisian Romdhana. He then won the Arab Championships in Radès with 5.25 m and was eliminated from the qualification at the Summer Universiade in Taipei with 5.10 m. In 2018 he did not succeed at the African Championships in Asaba and in 2019 he won the silver medal at the Arab Championships in Cairo with 5.10 m behind the Iraqi Muntaher Faleh Abdelwahid . He then successfully defended his title at the Africa Games in Rabat with 5.00 m and was then eliminated from the World Military Games in Wuhan without a valid attempt.
In 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2019 Cherabi was the Algerian champion in the pole vault.
