The Hiev class consists of two class 711 floating cranes that were built for the Kiel and Wilhelmshaven naval arsenal operations .
Furnishing
The self-propelled floating cranes have a triple diesel-electric drive , each consisting of a MWM four-stroke 16-cylinder diesel engine with 442 kW, a three-phase generator with 700 kVA, a DC drive motor with 350 kW and a Voith-Schneider propeller . One of the propellers is in the bow, the other two in the stern.
The double link luffing jib crane is a MAN product . The lifting capacities are 100 t with a radius of 16.2 m and 50 t with a radius of 28.5 m and a maximum hook height of 35 m above the waterline .
A galley, living rooms for twelve people and workshops allow sea use of up to ten days.
units
Both units were built from November 24, 1960 for DM 4.3 million each under construction numbers 983 ( Hiev ) and 984 ( Griep ) at the Rheinwerft in Duisburg-Walsum and, after completion, relocated to their home ports via the inland waterways . The ship names are related to the task of the floating cranes and come from the Low German : Hiev stands for “lift” and Griep for “grab”.
- Heav
The Heave ( Ship identification Y 875) was launched on 27 January 1962 from the pile and was placed on October 2, 1962 to the Naval Arsenal Kiel operating in service. After its dissolution, the decommissioning took place on December 31, 2014 and then the sale via Vebeg .
The Jade Service acquired the floating crane and put it back into operation as Jade Hiev ( IMO number 8229810). Due to a technical defect, the multi-part crane boom fell on the deck on February 16, 2017 when it was erected and slightly injured three employees. While the pontoon remained almost undamaged, the investigators assumed the crane was a total loss . The complete crane structure was then dismantled and the vehicle converted into a self-propelled multi-purpose pontoon.
- Griep
The Griep (Y 876) was launched on May 5, 1962 and has been in service for the Wilhelmshaven naval arsenal since it was commissioned on May 15, 1963.
