Hildegard Urner-Astholz
Hildegard Urner-Astholz (born January 20, 1905 in Hanover ; † August 21, 2001 in Schaffhausen ) was a Swiss art historian and author .
life and work
Hildegard Urner studied theology and history in Marburg and Zurich . In 1932 she did her doctorate under Rudolf Butmann and Wilhelm Mommsen . In 1933 she married the pastor Johannes Friedrich and in the same year received Swiss citizenship . They lived all their lives at the castle in Stein am Rhein .
When Karl Keller-Tarnuzzer carried out extensive excavations on the island of Werd , she accompanied some emergency excavations and published a summary of the results in 1942, which for a long time remained the only description of the Roman vicus .
From 1960 to 1976 Hildegard Urner worked as a Latin teacher and pastor's wife and wrote various articles for historical textbooks as well as for six decades essays on art and cultural history for the feature section of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung . She was also a member of the Schaffhausen Zonta Club.
Hildegard Urner was honored in 1994 for her poetic reflection on the cultural assets of different epochs from the “Stiftung Kreatives Alter” of Bank Vontobel.
