Hilpertshausen (colloquially Veit , St. Veit ) is a district of Unterpleichfeld in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg .

Geographical location

Hilpertshausen is located in the far north of the Unterpleichfeld municipality. Further north, the district of Erbshausen-Sulzwiesen begins the municipality of Hausen near Würzburg . The municipality of Bergtheim can be found to the east . The village of Unterpleichfeld is to the southeast. In the south, Rupprechtshausen rises on Hilpertshausen district. The west is occupied by the Gramschatzer Forest , which is now a community-free area in the district of Würzburg.

history

The place where Hilpertshausen is today was settled as early as the Neolithic Age. During excavations, finds from the band ceramists were discovered. However, the village was first mentioned in a document as "Helprechtshusen" in 1223. The Agnetenkloster in Würzburg acquired the village in 1334, and the nuns probably acquired the village through purchase. However, the monastery was closed after 1554.

In the period that followed, the Würzburg monastery ensured that the monastery buildings were repopulated by Jesuits . Hilpertshausen also became part of the Jesuit property. The Jesuits promoted the Catholic faith in the village and in 1610 also built a chapel dedicated to St. Vitus. The country house for the sick confreres was also built here. After the monastery was dissolved at the beginning of the 19th century, Hilpertshausen became a rural community in the Kingdom of Bavaria .

Attractions

The center of the village is the Catholic parish church of St. Vitus. The church in its present form was built between 1719 and 1721. It is a hall with a retracted choir . In the east of the church, a small roof turret was added, which ends with a bell roof. The building was erected on Veiter Berg, which is the highest point in the village. The rectory was built in the immediate vicinity in 1806.

Hilpertshausen has another special feature with a so-called residential stable house . It is a two-storey half-timbered building with a half-hipped roof from 1719. Several grave monuments were erected in the village cemetery. The wayside shrines that were set up in the corridor of the village are also typical of the Würzburg region . Most of the tortures date back to the 19th century.
