Hilyard M. Brown

Hilyard M. Brown (born February 16, 1910 in Lincoln , Nebraska , † October 12, 2002 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American art director and production designer who won the Oscar for best production design for the color film Cleopatra at the 1964 Academy Awards (1963) won.

Life

Brown began his career as an art director and production designer in the Hollywood film industry in 1934 for the film Kentucky Kernels and was involved in the staging of ninety films.

At the 1964 Academy Awards, he won the Oscar for best production design in a color film, along with John DeCuir , Jack Martin Smith , Herman A. Blumenthal , Elven Webb , Maurice Pelling , Boris Juraga , Walter M. Scott , Paul S. Fox and Ray Moyer , specifically for the monumental film Cleopatra (1963) by Joseph L. Mankiewicz with Elizabeth Taylor , Richard Burton and Rex Harrison in the leading roles .
