Hinrich Storch (born September 12, 1933 in Berlin ) is a German architect , co-founder of the architecture office Storch Ehlers Partner and painter.

Life

Born in 1933 into the third generation of a family of artists, the grandson of the painter Karl Storch the Elder and the son of Karl Storch the Younger , Hinrich Storch made his first drawings of animals in the Berlin zoo when he was five years old . At the end of the Second World War , Storch was twelve years old: “I know what the dust tastes like after a bomb hit ,” he said more than half a century later in an interview with reference to his high-contrast painting of the war ruins of the Aegidienkirche in Hanover.

In 1945 his family fled to their grandfather's birthplace, Bad Segeberg . In the country, Storch first attended the Warder village school , then the Dahlmann school in Bad Segeberg and from 1948 finally the Plön Castle boarding school , where he made freehand drawings of landscapes and architecture as well as tree and animal studies.

After graduating from high school in Plön in 1955, Hinrich Storch began studying architecture at the University of Braunschweig , studying modeling and life drawing with Kurt Edzard and freehand drawing with Daniel Thulesius .

In 2006 Storch joined the Berlin group of the Künstleronderbund in Germany (KSB).

In 2011 Hinrich Storch joined the Hanover Artists' Association and retired from the active participation of the architecture office he co-founded. Drawing and painting now became the focus of his creative work. He presented his works in his private rooms on Kleiner Hillen .
