The Hirschberg is an 1834 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Bregenz Forest Mountains near Bizau in Vorarlberg , Austria .
Location and surroundings
The Hirschberg is surrounded to the northeast by the Sienspitze ( 1600 m ), to the southeast by the Diedamskopf ( 2090 m ) and to the southwest by the Kanisfluh ( 2044 m ). In the northeast of the mountain is the well-known Vorsäß settlement Schönenbach , which can be reached via the toll road from Bizau. In the northwest lies the valley town of Bizau and the Bregenz Ach .
Ascent
The Hirschberg is a popular destination for ski tourers and in summer for hikers. From the valley station of the Hirschbergbahnen you can reach the summit after a hike of approx. 3.5 hours. There is also an alpine educational trail from the mountain station of the chair lift .
Winter sports area
The Hirschberg chairlift led from the Bizau district of Hütten via the middle station (start of the former summer toboggan run ) to the mountain station at 1,436 m . Since 2012, the operation of the railway has not been possible due to insolvency proceedings. The summer toboggan run was dismantled after the chairlift was shut down, so summer use is no longer possible. Until 1999 the Hirschberg was one of the most famous winter sports areas in the Bregenzerwald . There was an FIS downhill run on which the slaloms and runs of the Austrian Ski Championship and the European Cup of 1975 and 1983 were held. On the sunny plateau also were three tows the company Doppelmayr . The hut lift is the only one that is still in operation, the others were removed in 2014. The practice lift at the valley station of the Hirschbergbahn is still in winter operation and is operated by the community. There are also some tow rope lifts available. For a long time it was also planned to build a four-seater chairlift on the Hirschberg plateau, but this never happened due to the bankruptcy.
view
From the former panorama restaurant and the mountain station of the chair lift you have a wonderful view over the entire central Bregenzerwald.
