The Hirschberger Bach , called Bilsteinbach in the upper reaches of the Bilsteinhöhle , is a 9.5 km long, southern and orographically right tributary of the Schorenbach in North Rhine-Westphalia . The brook first flows a little bit in the Hochsauerland district and then in the area of ​​the town of Warstein, which is part of the Soest district .

course

The Bilsteinbach rises in the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park about 1.2 km west of the Stimmstamm mountain pass . Its at around 547  m above sea level. NN lying source and the first 750 m stretch of the river are in the area of Meschede in the Hochsauerlandkreis.

Entirely in the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park and initially flowing in northeastern directions, the stream turns north from Am Huxborn . Then it flows to the northeast. At the Bilsteinfelsen the brook disappears in swallow holes . After about 300 m underground it comes to the surface again in two springs. From here on it is called Hirschberger Bach .

Continuing to flow in predominantly northern directions , the brook flows about 1 km west of Warstein at about 295  m above sea level. NN in the Wester tributary Schorenbach .

Bed slope and catchment area

With a height difference of 252 m, the mean bottom slope of the Hirschberger Bach is 26.5 ‰. The 11.144 km² catchment area is drained to the North Sea via Schorenbach, Wester , Möhne , Ruhr and Rhine .
