The Laubbach flood retention basin , as it is officially spelled, is a reservoir in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ) with around 1 hectare of permanent retention area. The lake is located on the eastern outskirts of Abtsgmünd . This flood retention basin (HRB) was created - like ten other HRB along the Lein - by the water association Kocher-Lein. With the construction of these flood retention basins, the risk of flooding in the Leintal and in the middle Kochertal should be reduced. The trigger for the construction of the plants was u. a. a severe flood in March 1956.

The HRB Laubbach was built in 1959 as a drying basin. In 1970 the expansion took place with a permanent backlog of 1 hectare of permanent storage area and 10,000 m³ of permanent storage space. The Laubbach reservoir is the smallest and most easterly of the flood retention basins operated by the Kocher-Lein water association.

The Laubbach gave its name to the HRB . The name Laubbach came about because this stream always carried a lot of leaves with it in autumn.

The notation Laubach is often used for the HRB Laubbach .

Infrastructure

The Swabian Alb Association maintains a hikers' home and a campsite at the reservoir. There is also a children's playground and a barbecue area with a barbecue hut.
