The Leineck flood retention basin (also Leinecksee or Leineckstausee ) is a reservoir near Alfdorf in the Rems-Murr district . It is one of eleven retention basins operated by the “Kocher-Lein” water association .
Since the Leinecksee is located in the Welzheimer Forest , the area is ideal for hiking and cycling. There are parking spaces and signposted hiking trails. There are two public barbecue areas by the lake, each with a children's playground. There is a log cabin at one of the barbecue areas. The Seehof restaurant with cocktail bar is also located on the banks of the Leinecksee.
In 1998 the basin of the Leinecksee was adapted to the current safety regulations and in 2003 the existing asphalt surface sealing was improved.
