The detention basin Eisenbach (also Eisenbachsee ) is a 1.65 ha large reservoir in Baden-Wuerttemberg ( Germany ), about 5 km south-east of Welzheim . It is located in the middle of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park and is located in the district of Alfdorf in the Rems-Murr district at 450 m above sea level. NN . The lake was completed in 1961 by the water association Kocher-Lein, which was founded in 1957 as a result of recurring floods along the Lein . The Eisenbachsee is one of eleven storage and retention basins that the association still operates today. The lake, which is fed by the eponymous Eisenbach , has a catchment area of 7.4 km² and a permanent storage area of approx. 1.65 hectares. The 13.5 m high dam enables a maximum storage area of 11 hectares to be achieved.
Leisure and recreation
The Eisenbachsee, where there is also a kiosk, is designated as a swimming area and a popular destination in the summer months. There are extensive sunbathing areas around the lake, and the DLRG is on site on summer weekends . The lake is also the starting point for the Eisenbachsee forest animal educational trail. Along the way there are 20 educational trail signs on well-known native forest animals such as badgers , foxes and deer as well as on lesser known forest animals of Central Europe such as. B. wood grouse , lynx , raccoon and raccoon dog . Some nature trail stations are equipped with animal sound installations. An association offers adventure tours for this purpose.
