The Reichenbach flood retention basin was built between 2016 and 2019 on the boundary of the two Hechingen districts of Boll and Stetten in Zollernalbkreis , Baden-Württemberg .
construction
The flood retention basin is intended to improve flood protection in the Reichenbach area and further down the Starzel , which in turn is a tributary of the Neckar . The Zellerbach already flows into the Reichenbach in the reservoir area above the dam . The basin is usually dry and is only filled when there is high water, its discharge is controlled. It is designed for a storage volume of 235,700 m³; the storage area then reaches 7.6 hectares. The client is the Starzeltal flood protection association and the operator is the city of Hechingen.
The dam is straight and has a height of 12.5 m above the river bed. The dam is built continuously for fish. When the water level is normal, these can swim through a passage, the so-called eco - tunnel .
history
After the Starzel flood in 2008 , the Starzeltal Flood Protection Association was founded. In addition to a few smaller ones, such as the Zellerbach retention basin , the Reichenbach flood retention basin is the largest project; it was put into operation on July 3, 2019 as part of a ceremony. The construction costs amounted to 4.83 million euros, of which the state of Baden-Württemberg paid 3.2 million.
