The Hockey Club Hannover (HCH) is a sports club that was founded on March 21, 1923 in Hanover .

description

The club founders were a small group of hockey-loving men who had previously played hockey at SV Arminia Hannover . Based on the local association symbol, the triangle with the A, the HCH emblem was created as a triangle with the point down. Today it operates the fields of hockey, tennis , volleyball and cricket . The club area is located directly next to the Eilenriedestadion and has an artificial hockey pitch , a natural hockey pitch , nine tennis courts and a beach volleyball facility . The greatest successes in the club's history are the membership of the women's hockey team from 1984 to 1990 in the Bundesliga and the win of the German championship by the girls A team in 1981.

history

The first hockey games were played on a parade ground of the Reichswehr on the old Bult. In the absence of its own space, the tennis division used rental spaces in Waldheim and Herrenhausen . The athletes used the neighboring Eilenriede .

In 1924 the club received today's club premises from the state capital Hanover. A hockey field and two tennis courts were created. The first clubhouse was built, a wooden barrack with a later extension. In 1929 the athletes won the "Eilenriede relay" and the "Hildesheim-Hanover run". During the Second World War , 80 percent of the first team were killed. The clubhouse was also destroyed. After the end of the war, the seats were confiscated by the British occupying forces and the club was forcibly dissolved. The HCH was re-established in 1946 and the rebuilding of the clubhouse was completed two years later. In 1952 a table tennis department was founded, two more tennis courts were built and there were three hockey courts. In 1961 the third club house was completed, which was rebuilt again in 1981. In 1985 the volleyball department was founded. The club has been playing on the club's own artificial turf field since 1997. In 1998 the tennis department of the RSV Hannover transferred to the HCH. In October 2009 the cricket division was established.

In 2014, the Hannover Hockey Club made it possible to build a new youth performance center in Hannover 96 by agreeing to move within the grounds of the Eilenriedestadion . To this end, it will have an area of around 21,000 square meters in the south of the site. He is taking over the five tennis courts from Hannover 96 and plans to build an artificial turf field for hockey, a beach volleyball field and a cricket field there. The existing club building at Hannover 96 will be partially converted and will continue to be used by HCH.

hockey

In 1981 the HCH won the first national title with a 3-2 win over the Großflottbeker THGC , in 1982 the final was lost against the RTHC Leverkusen 8: 9 after a 7-meter shooting.

In the 2013/2014 season, the men's team, which was a founding member of the 2nd Bundesliga in 1988 , plays in the 1st Association League . The women’s team plays in a syndicate with the women of TSV Bemerode. In the six seasons from 1984 to 1990 in which the women of the Hockey Club Hannover played in the Bundesliga , the team reached 4th place in the northern relay twice, with the 1988 semi-final of the German championship being missed by just one point.

The HCH maintains eleven youth teams. These base teams, which are currently being established, were able to secure several successes in the cup area from 2012 to 2014. Girls A reached the final of the German indoor championship two years in a row.

Cricket

In the 2010 season, for the first time, a men's team took part in the league games of the German Cricket Federation in the North German regional association NDCV. The home games are played on the natural grass of the HCH.
