Hodgesiella Christophi is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae). The species was named after the Russian entomologist Hugo Theodor Christoph .

features

The moths reach a wingspan of 8 to 10 millimeters. The head and forehead ( frons ) shine white, the vertex and the neck tuft shine bronze-brown. The antennae are ringed dark brown and white in the first two thirds. Subapical , the antennae are dark brown and have a white ring, the last fifth is white. Thorax and tegulae have a dark brown sheen. The femur of the front and middle legs have a gray sheen, those of the rear legs are gray-white. The tibia and tarsus dark brown shine, the tibias of the front legs have two white oblong lines. The tibia of the middle legs have medial and apical white rings. The tibiae of the hind legs are provided with white basal, medial and apical rings. The tarsi of the forelegs have a white line and a white apical ring on the first two segments, the fifth segment is white. The tarsi of the middle and hind legs have white apical rings. The spurs are white.

The forewings have a dark brown sheen and two shiny white bands. The first is at 1/5 of the forewing length, the second is in the middle of the wing and does not reach the inner edge of the wing. Both bandages are either perpendicular to the Costalader or run slightly inwards. Lateral they are margins ocher. A white costal spot is 3/4 of the forewing length, a small white spot is at the inner corner . Both have an ocher border on the inside. The fringed scales are grayish brown and darker at the apex . The hind wings have a glossy ocher gray and are somewhat darker towards the apex. The fringed scales are ocher gray. The abdomen is gray.

The genital armature of the males is similar to that of Hodgesiella rebeli , but the right brachium is slightly dilated distally. The tubular part of the aedeagus is curved distally and the right valvella is more rounded.

The genital armature of the females is similar to that of Hodgesiella rebeli , but the sterigma is slimmer, gradually tapers distally and is curved in the middle. The ductus bursae is very narrow, the process of the corpus bursae is more elongated.

Similar species

Hodgesiella christophi can be distinguished from Hodgesiella rebeli and Hodgesiella rhodorrhisella on the basis of their bronze-brown head. The species also differs from H. rebeli in the incomplete second band on the forewings and the interrupted outer band. In H. rhodorrhisella the inner band is more regular.

distribution

Hodgesiella christophi is native to Asia Minor .

biology

The biology of the species is unknown. Butterflies were collected from mid to late June.
