The Hohe Straussberg is a 1933 meter high mountain in Schwangau , in the Ammergau Alps , southeast of Füssen in the German state of Bavaria . Neighboring mountains are the Tegelberg ( 1881  m ) in the northwest towards Füssen, the Säuling ( 2047  m ) in the southwest and the Hochplatte ( 2082  m ) to the east . Other nearby peaks are the Ahornspitze ( 1784  m ), the Straußbergköpfl ( 1767  m ) and theNiedere Straussberg ( 1877  m ). The south or south-west flank of the Hohen Straussberg slopes down towards Bleckenau and the Pöllat Gorge.

Base and tours

  • The most famous path to the Hohen Straussberg leads from Hohenschwangau over the Ahornreitweg , the Ahorndiensthütte and then through largely unpaved terrain over the north side to the summit.
  • A descent can be made without a path over the green and wooded south side to the Alpe Jägerhütte and on the farm road back to Hohenschwangau.
