On March 8, 2019, the debut album titled after the band was finally released via SharpTone. The group accompanied Being as an Ocean and Counterparts on their European tour in April 2019.

style

On the split EP This Is as One for which Holding Absence is represented with three pieces, the music is described as "slightly prrogged post-rock ", the sound of which is shimmering and very melodic. Lucas Woodland's singing just drifts slightly into screaming singing . In addition, the group does not play fast, but very calming music.

Woodland's singing is also described as a clear and emotionally carried voice, which alternates with his painful screaming. On the debut album, the music is referred to as metalcore . The refrains are described as "stormy", which are often surrounded by soft and calm passages and even more tender vocals, which at times develop almost spherical melodies, appear depressingly heavy and melancholy and sometimes stand in contrast to the intense drumming. On their debut album, the musicians lyrically address topics such as loss, failed love relationships and hopelessness.
