Holger "Spiky" Löhr (born July 25, 1970 in Oftersheim near Heidelberg ) is a German handball trainer and former handball player . For the German national handball team , he played 95 A international matches, in which he scored 219 goals. His playing position was right winger .

As a 16-year-old, he played in the 2nd handball league for TSV Oftersheim . Then he moved to VfL Pfullingen . Markus Baur , with whom Löhr is still good friends today, also played there at the time . In Pfullingen he was also nicknamed "Spiky", which refers to the name of the pit bull "Spike" from the cartoon series Tom and Jerry . The nickname was a nod to his upper body. The left-hander then moved to SG Kronau-Östringen via the stations SG Leutershausen , VfL Gummersbach , TV Großwallstadt and SG Willstätt / Schutterwald . The business economist had to end his sports career there at the end of 2005 due to a knee injury. The Rhein-Neckar Löwen then wanted to sign him as an assistant coach. Löhr rejected this offer, however. In early 2007 he became the coach of SG Leutershausen, which he led from the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg to the 2nd Bundesliga. On October 1, 2013, he resigned as trainer at SGL because he "no longer had the feeling that [...] he could get the most out of the team". Since the 2017/18 season he has been coaching third division club HG Oftersheim / Schwetzingen .

With a body length of 1.71 meters, Löhr was relatively small for a handball player and was known for his high level of motivation, commitment and will to win. He was the World Cup ambassador for the 2007 handball world championship.

He scored a total of 999 Bundesliga field goals.
