Holger Pfleger

Holger Pfleger (born June 14, 1944 in Laband ) is a German civil engineer . From 1989 to 1994 he was mayor of Bergisch Gladbach .

Life

After his family was evacuated from Upper Silesia , he came to Mülheim an der Ruhr in a roundabout way . From 1963 to 1970 he studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Hanover . In 1971 he permanently resided in Bergisch Gladbach. He is married and has a daughter.

politics

With the beginning of his studies he joined the SPD in 1963 . For 13 years since 1975 he was parliamentary group chairman of the SPD city ​​council group in the new city of Bergisch Gladbach. As the first mayor in North Rhine-Westphalia , he ruled from 1989 to 1994 on the basis of a traffic light coalition between the SPD, FDP and the GREEN . In the following electoral term he moved to the local electoral association "Democrats '94", for which he was a member of the Bergisch Gladbach city council.
