Holger Thor (born April 4, 1971 in Vienna ) is an Austrian event manager and, as Miss Candy, one of the most famous drag queens in Austria.

Life

After his school education at the school and at the Academy of Commerce , he was at Kuoni arranged for Travel Agent. He was good friends with Arthur Singer, the director of Heaven Gay Night Vienna , and his sister Karin Löffler, then manager of the U4 disco . After initially working there as a bouncer, he helped out more and more often and over time also took care of flyers, shows and much more. From 1991 he began to create the fictional character Miss Candy . When Singer retired from nightlife work in 1992, Thor took over the event, initially together with Walter Häusler. After the double burden became too great, he gave up his job in the travel industry.

With Heaven Vienna he is also responsible for the annual rose ball , as well as being responsible for the biggest disco at the Life Ball every year . He was also a co-organizer of the dance club Drama! Which took place from 2005 to 2010 . in the Ottakringer brewery . Miss Candy moderates many events, such as the final rally of the rainbow parade , galas for World AIDS Day and regularly carries out charitable activities within the framework of her clubs, for example for the benefit of the Aids Life association or aid for AIDS . In 2005, along with Barbara Karlich , La Hong and Fritz Muliar , she made herself available as godparents for a chocolate creation (white chocolate-covered praline made of dark chocolate with puffed rice), which was sold for the benefit of Children's Cancer Aid in downtown Vienna.

Both his job as an event organizer and as a drag queen also have socio-political interests. With the events, he not only wants to "party", but also change society a little and bring about better cooperation. To this end, he also uses the media's attention in interviews surrounding these events. The motivation behind Miss Candy is not, as with many travesty stars, the confusion of the sexes, but the abolition of the traditional gender roles. He is against too strict boundaries, be it how men and women should behave and dress, or be it strict boundaries between gay and straight. Holger Thor says about his second personality: "Miss Candy is the incarnate provocation." The fictional character Candy achieved a certain amount of attention that he would never get as Holger Thor. He uses this to convey messages and concerns. He doesn't think much of a drag queen whose only message is her appearance. He also tries to offer otherwise uninterested people a different approach to politics. Before every election, he holds an election special in Heaven , to which he also invites politicians. He not only wants to address politics there, but also to bring out the people behind the otherwise usual political phrases.

In addition to his high-profile public events, Thor runs an event agency that specializes in national and international corporate events.

In the past two years, Holger Thor has also worked as a video producer and editor.
