The Holländer-Graben is an artificial watercourse in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The ditch registered in the Quedlinburg monument register runs south of the Quedlinburg city center from Mühlengraben to the west along Hüttenweg and Brühlstraße to Bode , into which it joins after about 800 meters on the left. To the north is the abbey garden .

Architecture and history

The ditch, for which the spelling Holländergraben is also used, was created by Dutch meliorators , from which the name is derived. The aim was to regulate the Wilden Bode as well as the drainage of the swampy area to the south , today's Brühlpark . Around 1900 two bridges were built over the Holländer-Graben from the abbey garden to Brühlstraße.

When the abbey garden was redesigned from 2005 onwards, a sandstone-clad bridge made of precast concrete was built over the moat to connect to the Brühl. In 2007 the bridge over the ditch in the course of Brühlstrasse was renewed.
