Horace Walker (* 1838 ; † 1908 ) was an English alpinist who, with the Swiss mountain guide Melchior Anderegg , Johann Jaun and Julien Grange, built the Pointe Walker ( 4208  m ) named after him on June 30, 1868 , the highest peak of the Grandes Jorasses , ascended over the southwest flank. Together with his sister Lucy , his father Frank as well as Melchior and Jakob Anderegg , he had already succeeded in the first ascent of the Balmhorn ( 3698  m ) on July 21, 1864 . Like his father, Horace Walker was a prominent member of the London Alpine Club , of which he was president between 1891 and 1893.
