Location of Horn in Bergisch Gladbach |
Horn is a district in the city center of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The Horn settlement was named after an old designation that was recorded in the original cadastre in the area of today's street Auf dem Horn , which is documented as Auffm Han for the year 1582 . This is followed later by documents for the year 1611 with the name Hain and for the year 1615 with Hagen. This leads to the conclusion that the words Hohn / Hagen (= forest, mountain forest) were used synonymously for horn . Another explanation suggests the early spelling Auf dem Horn as a reference to the topographical location on a horn-shaped, protruding terrain formation. In the 19th century, the field name was transferred to a building that was built on Horngasse (Hornstrasse) in 1831 .
