Schützheide is a district in the Stadtmitte and Sand districts of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
Schützheide is an old field and settlement name. While the name of the site was mentioned as early as 1770, the settlement can only be proven for 1858. As far as the word heather appears in connection with a place name in the region, these settlement names are derived from the location on the Bergisch heather sand strip. To distinguish it from other “Heide” places, the place name has been supplemented by the family name of the residents or the qualifier Schütz .
