The name Mühlenberg takes up the old name of the Oberm Mühlenberg , which was first mentioned in 1595 as boven dem Müllenberg . In the original cadastre , the settlement is recorded in the area of today's street Am Mühlenberg . The field name referred to the mountain slope that runs parallel to the Strunde above the Gladbacher Mühle .
