Location of Im Aspert in Bergisch Gladbach |
Im Aspert is a district in the city center of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The settlement Im Aspert goes back to the 1594 first mentioned Gewannenbezeichen Im Aßpen , which is recorded in the original cadastre in the area of today's Straße Im Aspert . There was an oak forest on the mountain, which was probably owned by the Gladbacher Mühlenhof since the Middle Ages and was felled in the middle of the 19th century.
etymology
There are two different interpretations of the name. In the field names the südbergische is aspen (= aspen, aspen) included. According to this, Aspert can have emerged as a contracted form from Asproide and describes aspen clearing. It is more likely that Aspert or Aspel, which is documented for 1765, arose out of “tensioning”. To get there, you had to overcome a particularly steep stretch of road, so that additional draft animals had to be harnessed.
