Scherpenbach is a district in the Sand district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The name Scherpenbach emerged from a late medieval settlement name. It was formed from the identical water name for a small stream on site. In Urkataster is Scherpenbach in the town of Bensberg-freedom records. The defining word of the name of the water is derived from the Middle High German "scherpf / scherpf / scherf" (= sharp, rough, strong). After that, the Scherpenbach is a fast flowing and raging brook.
