Horst-Rüdiger Magnor

Horst-Rüdiger Magnor (born February 23, 1942 in Breslau ; † February 16, 2008 in Gedern ) was a German athlete .

Between 1966 and 1972 he appeared in 16 missions in the German national jersey. At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, he finished eleventh in the 50 km walk as the best walker from the Federal Republic of Germany. Four years later at the Olympic Games in Munich, he was only the third best German walker in 16th place, behind Olympic champion Bernd Kannenberg and sixth-placed Gerhard Weidner .

Magnor started his career at Göttingen 05 and moved to Eintracht Frankfurt before the 1966 season . At the German championships, he took third place in the 20 km walk in 1967 and second place in the individual ranking in 1970 . From 1966 to 1968 the Frankfurt team won with Bernhard Nermerich , Julius Müller and Magnor in the team classification, in 1970 and 1971 the Frankfurt team won with Nermerich, Magnor and Wilfried Wesch . In the 50 km walk, Magnor took second place in 1967 and 1972 , and in 1968 he was third. In the team competition, Magnor won with the Frankfurters from 1966 to 1968 and 1970, with Bernhard Nermerich also belonging to the team. The third man was Claus Bartels in 1966 , Hans Gräfe in 1967 , Julius Müller in 1968 and Peter Schuster in 1970 . Magnor was a walker at German championships until 1977.

Magnor set his personal best in street walking in 1972. On May 11, 1972, he walked 20 kilometers in Mühldorf am Inn for 1:30:27 hours and on May 27, 1972 in Bremen, he walked 50 kilometers in 4:06:27 hours.

In addition to his sporting career, Magnor had studied medicine and was then a resident doctor in Gedern.
