Horst-Wolfram Kerll

Horst-Wolfram Kerll (born February 6, 1947 in Goslar ) is a former German diplomat who was ambassador to Paraguay between 2004 and 2007 and then to Tunisia from 2007 to 2012 .

Life

Kerll studied law , political science and economics . 1977 doctorate he became Dr. jur. at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg with a dissertation on the subject of the English law of self-defense . In 1978 he passed his master's degree in political science. He then worked as a lawyer and later in the GTZ legal department .

In the same year, Kerll joined the Foreign Service. In the Foreign Office , he graduated from 1978 to 1980 preparatory training for the career of the higher Foreign Service. After this preparation he was employed in the United Nations Department of the Federal Foreign Office from 1980 to 1982.

From 1982 to 1985 Kerll headed the culture and press department of the German Embassy in Budapest ( Hungary ). He then worked for three years in the German Embassy in Turkey in Ankara as head of the legal and consular department. From 1988 to 1991 he was deputy head of the political department in the permanent representation in Geneva . After his tenure there, he moved to the Foreign Office for four years in 1991, where he was deputy head of the department for cultural programs. From 1995 to 1997 Kerll worked in Lisbon as an exchange officer in the Portuguese Foreign Ministry. From 1997 to 2001 he was Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Portugal.

After a further three years in the Foreign Office as head of the cultural cooperation division for non-European countries, Kerll moved to Paraguay in 2004 as ambassador . Since 2007, he was ambassador to Tunisia and held that office until his entry into the retirement 2012. successor as ambassador in Tunis was Jens Plötner , previously ambassador to Sri Lanka was.
