Horst Boehling

Horst Böhling (born November 15, 1908 in Montigny near Metz ; † August 24, 1999 in Bonn ) was a German diplomat .

Life

Horst Böhling joined the Foreign Service in 1930, and in 1934 he received his doctorate from the University of Jena with a thesis on Chinese property law: according to the modern civil code and land law compared with European law , taking into account old Chinese law . Böhling joined the NSDAP and the SS in 1938 and was sent to the embassy of the German Reich in Shanghai as a legation secretary in 1939 . In 1940 he was sent to the embassy of the German Reich in Beijing as a cultural advisor. From 1941 to 1944 he was accredited at the Embassy of the German Reich with Wang Jingwei in Nanjing .

From 1946 to 1950 he worked as a professor at Tongji University in Shanghai. From 1955 to 1959 he was the German Ambassador to Thailand , then worked in the Foreign Office in Bonn. From 1961 to 1970 Böhling was the German ambassador to Malaysia .
