Horst Dieter (Oskar) Gölzenleuchter (born April 15, 1944 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German painter , graphic artist and author . He lives and works in Bochum .

Life

HD Gölzenleuchter was one of the founding members of the "Werkstatt Dortmund" in the work group Literature of the Working World , which was created in 1970. A year later, in 1971, Gölzenleuchter established himself as a freelance visual artist. With his first literary steps, the small publishing house "Edition Wort und Bild" was born in 1979, in which bibliophile books and graphics are published. In 1980 he was involved in founding the Federal Association of Visual Artists Westphalia / South (BBK).

In 1982 Gölzenleuchter opened the “Werkstatt Wort und Bild” as a place for author readings and regular exhibitions on critical and realistic art. In 1989, together with various visual artists, he put together the traveling exhibition Der aufrechte Gang zu Carl von Ossietzky . In the course of this project, a steel sculpture was erected in the public space, namely in Bochum-Langendreer on the "Stern". Since 1993 Gölzenleuchter has been working on museum educational concepts in the field of linoleum / woodcuts and until 1997 he was the first chairman of the specialist group for the visual arts of Western Westphalia in the IG Medien .

Gölzenleuchter wrote, published and illustrated numerous books. From 1989 to 2006 worked on the annual for literature and graphics Muschelhaufen . In 2001 the magazine Die Brücke presented him with the first prize for graphics in the “Weltbilder Kosmopolitania” competition.

Horst Dieter Gölzenleuchter is known for his woodcuts. He often uses found wooden objects, the basis for his art, to dig his pictures into with a knife. His motives are mostly political and social, he appeals to society, addresses social injustice and promotes a peaceful coexistence of cultures. His works also include steel sculptures. The news portal of the WAZ media group Der Westen described Gölzenleuchter as worthy descendants of Kirchner and Heckel .
