Horst Grunenberg (soccer player)

Horst Grunenberg (born June 19, 1942 ; † August 13, 2013 ) was a German soccer player who, as a goalkeeper for Tasmania Berlin, won the championship in the Regionalliga Berlin in the 1970/71 season and thus in the promotion round to the Bundesliga in 1971 against VfL Bochum , VfL Osnabrück , FK Pirmasens and Karlsruher SC in eight games.

career

The player emerged from the student of TSV Ihringshausen and then moved to SV Hermannia Kassel . Through his performances in the amateur league Hessen for the blue-whites in the season 1963/64 as well as through his assignments in the Hessen selection, he was appointed by DFB coach Helmut Schön in 1963 to the German national football team of amateurs . He was the reserve goalkeeper at the German-German qualifying matches in September 1963 in Karl-Marx-Stadt and in Hanover. At the pre-Olympic football tournament in Tokyo in October 1963, it was used on October 12 in a 2-1 win over Japan B. Together with Walter Birkhold , Franz-Josef Hönig , Gerhard Neuser and Walter Liebich , he contributed to the tournament victory of the DFB team.

For the round 1964/65 he moved to the Regionalliga Süd for 1. FC Pforzheim , where he came to 3 missions. After a round in Pforzheim, he got a contract offer from the Bundesliga of Hannover 96 . He was intended as the second man next to the goalkeeper Horst Podlasly . From 1965 to 1968 he could only prove his skills in two games in the Bundesliga. On November 10, 1965 he was in the goal of Hanover at the trade fair cup game against FC Porto , which was won 5-0. It was his only assignment for Hanover in the trade fair cup.

For round 1968/69 he signed with Bremerhaven 93 in the Regionalliga Nord . For Bremerhaven he made 57 appearances in the regional soccer league north . After two rounds in Bremerhaven, he moved to Tasmania Berlin in 1970. With Tasmania he was in 1971 Berlin champion and cup winner, although he was not used in the cup final. In the second year he moved into the Bundesliga promotion round as Berlin runner-up. But in 1972 “Tas” had no chance against Wuppertaler SV , Osnabrück, Bayern Hof and Borussia Neunkirchen . The man from Kassel also completed all eight games in the promotion round in this round. After the round in 1972/73, Tasmania Berlin - fourth in the table - was withdrawn from the game operations due to bankruptcy and dissolved. Grunenberg played 67 regional league games for Tasmania, in which he even scored a goal on October 3, 1971 against Rapide Wedding , as he was used three times as a striker. He was also in the goal of Berlin in the 1972 city game against Manchester United .

In 1973 he moved to Spandauer SV for which he played 21 regional league games in the 1973/74 season.
