Horst Junginger

Horst Junginger (born April 8, 1959 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ) is a German religious scholar .

Life

Junginger completed a degree in religious studies , philosophy , history and Arabic studies at the universities of Berlin and Tübingen , which he graduated with an MA in 1991. In 1997 he was awarded the doctoral thesis from philological to national religious studies. The subject of religious studies at the University of Tübingen from the middle of the 19th century to the end of the Third Reich to become Dr. phil. PhD.

From 2000 he was a fellow of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism in Jerusalem. After individual teaching commitments and research projects in Tübingen, Münster and Leipzig , he completed his habilitation in 2010 at the University of Tübingen and received the venia legendi for religious studies. From 2011 to 2014 he was a substitute professor for religious studies with special attention to its methodology and theory at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Since 2014 he has been a substitute professor for general and comparative religious studies at the University of Leipzig.

His main research interests are criticism of religion , the history of science and religion , research on anti-Semitism and new religious movements . He has published several books as well as articles in anthologies / handbooks (including a handbook of anti-Semitism and religion in the past and present ), specialist journals and daily newspapers.
