Howard McCalebb
Howard McCalebb (born May 13, 1947 in Indianola , Mississippi ) is an American sculptor .
Life
Howard McCalebb received a Masters of Fine Arts in sculpture from Cornell University in 1972 and a Bachelor of Arts in sculpture in 1970 from California State University in Hayward, California . In 1971 he took part in the 5th annual sculpture workshop at the Hobart School of Welding Technology in Troy .
His art has been exhibited in international exhibitions in Austria , Denmark , Germany , Hong Kong , Poland , the United Arab Emirates and galleries and museums in the USA.
McCalebb has taught fine arts at San Jose State University , the University of Massachusetts and Amherst College , the University of North Carolina , Rutgers University , Hunter College , Cornell University , the Pratt Institute , and the Parsons School of Design in New York City .
In May 2001, McCalebb traveled to the People's Republic of China and taught at the China National Academy of Fine Arts in Hangzhou and the Hangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1993 McCalebb was shown as an artist in the film Manhattan City Scape , produced in cooperation with the Danish Film Institute Workshop. In 1981 he took part in the film Bearden Plays Bearden , produced by the Philip Morris Corporation.
In 2000 McCalebb's sculptures were shown in the "Welded Sculpture of the Twentieth Century" exhibition at the Neuberg Art Museum in New York, along with works by Julio González , Pablo Picasso , Anthony Caro and David Smith.
In April 2003 McCalebb was among the American artists representing the United States at the 6th Sharjah Biennial in the United Arab Emirates . During this time he lectured at the American University of Sharjah, School of Architecture and Design.
In the summer of 2005 McCalebb created a number of public sculpture projects in Balchik , Bulgaria , Borhaug, Norway and Alytus , Lithuania .
In 2008 Howard McCalebb took part in the exhibition "Intrude: Art & Life 366", organized by the Shanghai Zendai Museum of Modern Art, with the work "Conjoined Icon / Edifice For Impromptu Theater".
In 2009 Howard McCalebb founded the DadaPost art gallery in Berlin-Reinickendorf .
