Hratschik Jawachjan
Hratschik Jawachjan ( poor. Հրաչիկ Ջավախյան; born July 6, 1984 in Kirovakan , Armenian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Armenian boxer . He won a bronze medal in the lightweight at the 2008 Beijing Olympics .
Career
Besides his date of birth, Hratschik Jawachjan only knows that he comes from Armenia and started boxing there as a teenager. In 2005 he intervened for the first time in boxing at an international championship, which was right at the world championship in Mianyang . However, he lost his first fight there against Ibrahim Kamal from Canada and was eliminated. Together with all the losers of his round, he finished 33rd.
In 2006 he started at two major European boxing tournaments, the 50th Bocskai Memorial in Budapest and the Feliks Stamm Memorial in Warsaw . He gained valuable international experience at these tournaments. The first success was already evident at the European Championships this year in Plovdiv . He defeated there u. a. the strong Poles Krzysztof Szot and Wasgen Safarjanz from Belarus on points and thus faced the Russian Alexei Tishchenko in the final . Tishchenko clearly had the upper hand in this final. For Hratschik Jawachjan, however, winning the EM silver medal was a great success.
In 2007 he fought in Issy-les-Moulineaux as part of an international match between Armenia and France against Alexis Vastine and was defeated on points (26:39). In October of that year he took part in the World Championship in Chicago . He won three fights there and defeated u. a. also the great American hope Sadam Ali on points (20:16). In the quarterfinals, however, he lost against Domenico Valentino from Italy on points (12:27) and came in 5th place. With this place he had won the right to start the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .
In 2008 Hratschik Jawachjan won the light welterweight competition at the Feliks Stamm Memorial in Warsaw. In the final he defeated Evgeni Romaschkewitsch from Belarus on points. Well prepared, he then went to the boxing tournament at the Olympic Games in Beijing. He won there over Rasheed Olawale Lawal from Nigeria on points (12: 0) and came to a non-fighting victory over the South Korean Jong Sub-baik. In the semifinals he met Alexei Tishchenko again , to whom he again lost on points (5:10). By reaching the semi-finals, however, he had already won an Olympic bronze medal .
At the 2009 World Cup in Milan , Hratschik Jawachjan first won over Simeon Bunardschijew, Bulgaria clearly on points (11: 1), but suffered a surprising point defeat in the round of 16 against Everton Lopez from Brazil (3:10) and was eliminated. In the final accounts, he finished 17th along with all the losers in his round.
At the 2010 European Championships in Moscow , Hratschik Jawachjan beat Alex Vasiljew, Finland (11: 2), Georgiu Popescu, Romania (9: 3), David Müller , Germany (5: 3), Oleksandr Kljutschko , Ukraine (5: 1) and Gyula Kate , Hungary (3-2) on points and became European champion. He had to show all his skills, especially in the fights against David Müller and Gyula Kate, in order to just win these fights.
In 2011 Jawachjan was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the European Championships against Tom Stalker, England (13:10). The world championships in the same year also ended for him in the preliminary round.
