Huang Wenbi

Huang Wenbi ( Chinese  黃文弼  /  黄文弼 , Pinyin Huáng Wénbì , W.-G. Huang Wen-pi ; born April 23, 1893 in Hanchuan , Hebei Province , Chinese Empire ; † December 18, 1966 ) was a Chinese archaeologist and one of the founders of modern Chinese archeology.

Life

He participated in the sponsored by the German government and Lufthansa Chinese-Swedish expedition (1926-1935) by Sven Hedin in Mongolia and after Xinjiang (in the desert Gobi ) in part, based on the Lop Nor concentrated -region. (His diary kept on this expedition was published in 1990.)

Huang Wenbi was a member of the Institute for Archeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and has carried out other archaeological research trips to the western regions ( Xiyu ) since the 1950s .

He made a particular contribution to the exploration of the historical city of Gaochang .
