The Nevado Huaytapallana is with a height of 5557  m the highest point of the mountain range Cordillera Huaytapallana in central Peru . In the Quechua language, the mountain is called Waytapallana . Other names for the mountain are Nevado Lasuntay and Cerro Jallacata . The mountain is not to be confused with the Cerro Huaytapallana in the Cordillera Blanca .

The Nevado Huaytapallana is located 25 km northeast of the city of Huancayo on the border of the districts of Huancayo and Pariahuanca in the province of Huancayo ( Junin region ).

The Nevado Huaytapallana is glaciated . At the foot of the mountain are the mountain lakes Laguna Chuspicocha (in the northwest), Laguna Lasuntay (in the southwest), Laguna Portachuela (in the east) and Laguna Pumacocha (in the northeast). To the southeast, a ridge leads to the neighboring summit Nevado Yanaucsha (5530 m), to the north a ridge over the Nevado Talves (5257 m) to Nevado Chuspi (5346 m).

The area has been protected as the Área de Conservación Regional Huaytapallana since 2011 .
