Hubert Makel (born September 12, 1945 - September 29, 2019 ) was a German football goalkeeper .
Career
Makel began with football at the Cologne district club SC Brück . He had already been in the service of Bayer 04 Leverkusen for a number of years when he made his professional football debut in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 1976/77 season . On the 25th matchday he was substituted on for the second half of the game against SV Arminia Hannover when the score was 0: 3 for goalkeeper Fred-Werner Bockholt . The game ended 1: 4. By the end of the season, Makel played all other games, Bayer finished 10th, and in the following season he played 20 games; it was ranked 8th in the final table. In the 1978/79 season Bayer won the championship in the northern relay and was promoted to the Bundesliga . Flaw was not given a chance, his rival Bockholt received the trust of coach Willibert Kremer in all season games . In the following years, too, Bockholt was number one between the posts. Makel only represented him, so that he came to five appearances in the upper house of German football. After saying goodbye to Bundesliga football in 1981, Makel first went to Bonner SC and later returned to his home club SC Brück, with whom he rose to the Oberliga Nordrhein and was still between the posts in 1994 at the age of 48.
Hubert Makel was a selection player for the Middle Rhine and was a member of the traditional Bayer 04 team. Makel died on the night of September 28th to 29th, 2019 after a long, serious illness.
