The Hugh River is a river in the south of the Australian territory Northern Territory .

River course

The river has its source on Frazer Hill in the MacDonnell Ranges , about 40 km west of Alice Springs in the south of the Northern Territory. It first flows a few kilometers to the east, crosses under Larapinta Drive and turns its course to the south. North of the James Range he crosses under the Stuart Highway and turns to the southeast. In the settlement Hugh River the river passes under the AustralAsia Railway . At the Pinnacle Hills , about 20 km north of Horseshoe Bend , the Hugh River flows into the Finke River .
