Hugh Trenchard, 3rd Viscount Trenchard DL (born March 12, 1951 ) is a British economic manager and politician of the Conservative Party , and a member of the House of Lords .

Life

Origin, military and professional career

Hugh Trenchard, eldest son of Thomas Trenchard, 2nd Viscount Trenchard and grandson of Hugh Trenchard, 1st Viscount Trenchard , who is known as the "Father of the Royal Air Force " , began studying at Trinity College at the University of Cambridge after attending Eton College , which he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). During his studies he began his military service in the 4th Battalion of the Royal Green Jackets in 1972  and resigned from this in 1980 with the rank of captain .

Trenchard began his professional career in 1973 at the financial services institute Kleinwort Benson, where he worked until 1996. After being the main one in 1980 to 1985 Japan was, he served from 1985 to 1996 as Direktur the company . In addition, he was managing director of the Japanese branch of its subsidiary Kleinwort Benson International Incorporated from 1980 to 1988 , then its president and finally from 1995 to 1996 chairman of the board of this company. During his stay in Japan between 1986 and 1988 he was also chairman of the Conservative Party ( Conservatives Abroad ).

Member of the House of Lords and functions in the private sector

When his father died in 1987, he inherited his title of nobility as 3rd Viscount Trenchard and thereby became a member of the House of Lords . By the House of Lords Act 1999 he lost his hereditary seat in parliament on November 11, 1999, but was re-elected for life in the House of Lords on May 27, 2004 as one of the representatives of the hereditary peers .

After leaving Kleinwort Benson in 1996, he continued to work in the private sector and was initially a director at Robert Fleming & Co. , a Dundee- based merchant banking and asset management company , from 1996 to 2000 . Currently Viscount Trenchard, who has chaired the Conservative Party in North East Hertfordshire since 2001, is on the boards of a number of companies including Berkeley Technology Ltd, Lotte Chemical UK Ltd, Standon Calling Ltd, London Pacific Secretaries Ltd, Standon Lordship Ltd, Bache Global Series and UK Koyu Corporation Ltd. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Stratton Street PCC Limited.

2006 Viscount Trenchard was appointed Honorary Air Commodore of the No. 600 Squadron RAF of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF) and appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire in 2008.

family

He has been married to the Hon. Fiona Elizabeth Morrison, daughter of James Morrison, 2nd Baron Margadale , since 1975 . With her he has two daughters and two sons, including his marriage apparent Hon. Alexander Thomas Trenchard (* 1978).
