Hugo Apolant (born April 28, 1866 in Berlin ; † March 6, 1915 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German pathologist who taught at the Goethe University in Frankfurt .

Life

Apolant's father was as Samuel Apolant , who worked as a rabbi and Jewish religion teacher in Berlin. In 1885 Apolant passed his matriculation examination at the Friedrichs-Gymnasium Berlin . He studied philosophy and music for a year at the universities of Berlin and Vienna . He broke off this course and instead devoted himself to studying medicine in Berlin and Strasbourg . In 1890 he received his doctorate in Berlin.

From 1890 to 1893 he was assistant to Friedrich Daniel von Recklinghausen and Gustav Schwalbe at the Pathological Institute in Strasbourg. He then worked as a doctor in Berlin and from 1902 worked in the Institute for Experimental Therapy . There he mainly worked in cancer research . His habilitation followed in 1906 in Frankfurt am Main . After the foundation of the Frankfurt University, Apolant became an associate honorary professor for experimental pathology. In 1908 he became a board member of the Frankfurt Israelite Community.

Apolant was married to Jenny Rathenau , who was a pioneer of the women's movement. The marriage produced a daughter.
